SIDOARJO – The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in East Java has commented on the collapse of the prayer hall building at Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School in Buduran, Sidoarjo.
The Head of the Non-Formal and Islamic Boarding School Education Division for East Java expressed deep concern over the incident. He affirmed that the Ministry of Religious Affairs will provide special attention to the post-incident handling process.
“We, in this case the Minister of Religious Affairs, certainly express our concern over this disaster. We hope that the victims who have not yet been found can be evacuated immediately and receive the best possible care,” he stated.
He added that any form of assistance from the Ministry of Religious Affairs will be monitored to ensure it is on target. He emphasized that the government has an obligation to carry out rehabilitation if necessary.
“If assistance is needed, that is indeed the task of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Because this incident is extraordinary, God willing, we will provide extra attention to Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School, as well as other boarding schools, to ensure construction complies with regulations,” he affirmed.
Furthermore, he stated that this disaster serves as an important lesson for all parties. “Going forward, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will tighten supervision of the construction of religious education facilities. Especially Islamic boarding schools, to ensure they meet construction standards and guarantee safety,” he explained.
