On the afternoon of September 19, the Politburo member and Municipal Party Committee Secretary met with a delegation from the Taiwan side of the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit led by Chairman Liu.

The Secretary welcomed Taiwanese guests attending the Beijing-Taiwan Science and Technology Forum, stating that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of Taiwan’s restoration. The victory in the war 80 years ago was achieved through the united efforts and sacrifices of all Chinese people, including compatriots in Taiwan. The history of cross-strait development demonstrates that compatriots on both sides should join hands to safeguard the overall interests of the Chinese nation and achieve national rejuvenation. This year concludes the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, during which Beijing has achieved new successes in economic and social development, and Beijing-Taiwan exchanges and cooperation have yielded new results, with increasing numbers of Taiwanese enterprises operating in Beijing and Taiwanese students studying at Beijing universities. We hope everyone will work with us to promote economic, trade, and technological cooperation, leveraging platforms like the Cross-Strait Technology Innovation Center to develop new productive forces in fields such as artificial intelligence and biomedicine; deepen cultural exchanges, host brand events like the Kaohsiung-Beijing Characteristic Week, enhance the influence of important platforms, promote exchanges in tourism, cultural creativity, film and television, and youth activities, and promote Chinese culture; jointly advance the cause of national reunification, carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance, firmly oppose “Taiwan independence” separatist activities and external interference, promote peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and make new contributions to national unification and rejuvenation. We will uphold the concept of “one family across the strait” and strive to create a favorable environment for Taiwanese compatriots to invest, travel, study, and live in Beijing.

Liu said, Taiwan’s restoration was an important achievement of the victory in the War of Resistance, and compatriots on both sides should remember history, drawing strength from it to further deepen exchanges and cooperation and expand areas of integrated development. As the nation’s capital, Beijing maintains strong momentum in economic and social development, with significant advantages in technological innovation. The Beijing-Taiwan Science and Technology Forum serves as an important platform for cross-strait exchanges, providing excellent opportunities and broad space for enterprises from both sides to cooperate in economic, trade, and technological fields. We hope to further deepen Beijing-Taiwan cooperation, exploring industrial and supply chain collaboration in areas like technological innovation to jointly seek new business opportunities.

Officials from the Taiwan Affairs Office and relevant leaders from Beijing municipality, along with responsible persons from the Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit, attended the meeting.
