The Oktyabrskaya to Novye Cheremushki metro section will be closed on September 27th and 28th.
Due to construction work, the section of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya metro line between Oktyabrskaya and Novye Cheremushki stations will be closed on September 27 and 28.
«There will be no train service on the section between Oktyabrskaya and Novye Cheremushki stations of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line on September 27 and 28. The closure is necessary for the construction of a transfer from the Akademicheskaya station of the Troitskaya line to the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line. The restrictions will take place on weekends when passenger traffic is reduced.»
Passengers will be able to use free KM buses that will run along the closed section, as well as other metro lines and ground transport.
Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya metro line
The Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line is a vital subway route in the Moscow Metro, opened in stages between 1958 and 1971. It connects the city’s southwestern and northeastern districts, with its stations renowned for their Soviet-era architectural designs, particularly the ornate «Rizhskaya» station. The line’s name reflects its path from the Kaluzhskoye and Rizhskoye highways.
Oktyabrskaya station
Oktyabrskaya is a metro station on the Koltsevaya (Circle) Line in Moscow, Russia. It opened in 1950 and is renowned for its grand Stalinist Empire architecture, featuring marble columns, ornate chandeliers, and bas-reliefs depicting Soviet military themes. The station’s name, which means «October,» commemorates the October Revolution of 1917.
Novye Cheremushki station
Novye Cheremushki is a station on the Moscow Metro, opened in 1962 as part of the city’s expansion into new residential districts. It is a classic example of the utilitarian «Khrushchevka-era» design, built for efficiency and high passenger capacity rather than the ornate decoration of earlier stations. The station’s name comes from the surrounding Cheremushki neighborhood, which was one of the first large-scale mass housing projects in the Soviet Union.
Akademicheskaya station
Akademicheskaya is a metro station on the Moscow Metro’s Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya Line, opened in 1962. It was named in honor of the nearby Russian Academy of Sciences, and its design features a simple, functional pillar-trispan layout typical of the era, with marble and granite finishes.
Troitskaya line
The Troitskaya line is a historical name for a section of the Moscow Metro, which was opened in 1935 as part of the city’s first subway line. It originally connected stations like Komintern (now Alexandrovsky Sad) and was later incorporated into the Sokolnicheskaya line. The name, meaning «Trinity,» is a historical reference to the area it served.
